About
Michaela Putz is an Austria-based multimedia artist whose work explores the intersections of memory, technology, and the natural world, with the photographic image serving as a central medium. Her diverse practice includes digital images, found footage, and collage techniques to create images, objects, photographic montages, and video works. She holds a Master of Arts in Arts & Science from the University of Applied Arts Vienna, as well as a degree in Communication Science from the University of Vienna.
Her artistic contributions have been showcased in exhibitions both in Austria and internationally, including presentations in museums, galleries, and other institutional venues. Putz's work has received recognition and support through various grants and awards, including the Burgenland Annual Award for Fine Art in 2018, the START grant for photography in 2019, and the studio grant for overseas work (Shanghai) from the Austrian Chancellery in 2024. In addition to her artistic practice, she has shared her expertise on contemporary photography and digitalization through lectures for art students, public talks, and contributions to magazines and catalogues. Michaela Putz lives and works in Vienna.
